Christian Jessie HOME
Christian Jessie HOME was born in Bathurst to James Stirling and Louisa Home (nee Clements). James Home was a solicitor. Christian married Cyril BLACKET, an architect, land developer and entrepreneur in 1881 in Sydney. They lived at Balmain, then Casula and Petersham and later moved to 640 acres on the shores of St Georges Basin, calling it Tasman Park. A weatherboard house was built of Spotted Gum on what is now Tasman Road (No. 41 adjacent to the St Georges Basin SES). It contained 10 bedrooms, hall, dining room, separate kitchen and verandahs. It was referred to by the locals as the 'Mansion House'. Ruth was born in Petersham in 1883, Pendrill Cyril BLACKET two years later at Casula, Ralph Christian BLACKETin 1887 at Tasman Park and Stirling Fritz BLACKET in 1993 at Tomerong. Christian died in Sydney of a kidney disease in 1911 aged 49. The following year Cyril was unanimously elected as the President of the Clyde Shire Council. At the Clyde Shire Council meeting in April 1912, Cyril asked if the Council would accept a horse drinking trough in honour of his late wife. It was reported that Cyril had carved the trough out of a single piece of sandstone. The memorial was to be erected at Stewarts Creek, or Stewarts Hill, 1400m south of the Clyde Council Chambers located in Tomerong. [1]
