Waldemar Peter Iversen 1899-1916

Waldmar Peter IVERSEN (1899-1916, sometimes written as Waldemar, or Walter, or Iverson) was the son of Isabella (nee Langlands, the daughter of the Tomerong Schoolteacher Thomas LANGLANDS) and Waldmar Iversen senior. The father passed away only four months into the marriage aged 33 and is buried at Christian's Minde. Their only son, Waldmar, who enlisted at Tomerong, would pass away from pneumonia two weeks after enlisting in 1916, aged 18. Isabella married Arthur Glanville in 1908 but died giving birth in 1914, aged 40. Waldmar’s sacrifice is commemorated at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra and the Shoalhaven Showground Memorial Gates. He is buried at the Cootamundra General Cemetery. [1]
