"A large gathering of Social Club members and relatives assembled at the Sunday School Hall on Saturday night, Feb. 18th., for the purpose of making a small presentation to one of their worthy members, Miss Sarah McGuire, prior to her marriage to Mr. H. Hoffmann, who is an employee of Clyde Shire. Also to Miss Trixie Watt, another highly respected member, on the eve of her marriage to Mr. Ray Morison, farmer, of Pyree. The popularity of the two lucky gents also went a long way towards being responsible for gathering of friends, and holding such a successful and enjoyable function. During the evening a short musical program me was rendered. Miss Cath. McGuire acted as piano accompanist. Songs were rendered by Mr. T. E. McGuire, Mrs. H. M. Watt; chorus by Society Five; recitations by Miss Merle Pepper, Irene Suffolk, J. Suffolk; pianoforte solo Miss Cath Mc Guire; other ladies as usual attended to their portion of the programme by supplying the eats, the remainder of the evening was spent in games which were enjoyed by all. The evening concluded by the singing of Auld Lang Syne."[2]
